Helping Israel - Estate Planning Documents

In response to the current horrors in Israel and my urge to do something besides donating money, we are offering free Estate Planning services to people going to Israel to volunteer or as reservists. This includes powers of attorney, basic wills and health care directives.

If you are an attorney or a notary who is interested in volunteering, please fill in your information and we will add you to our list!

Maybe people don’t like to think about doing this type of work. I will note that I think EVERY person should have these documents in place, at the very least the Power of Attorney and Health Care Directives. Including you, whoever you are, reading this right now!

If you would like to have your estate planning documents prepared before you leave for Israel, please fill out the information below. We will contact you to either do a short consultation or refer you to another attorney in your jurisdiction (state).

Once we discuss the plan, we will draft it and send you a summary/documents via email to review.
You can visit our Brooklyn office to sign the documents, we can email the documents with precise instructions (you need two witnesses and a notary) or I even have volunteers who are prepared to meet at NYC airports to notarize and sign the documents.

I personally have great pain and fear at the current situation in Israel and Gaza and potential escalation of an already horrific situation. To be very clear, I mourn the death and harm of all children and civilians. I’ve spoken out in the past about my belief in a two-state solution and my criticism of Israeli actions that have inflicted profound damage to the Palestinian people. Just as with a beloved family member who acts wrongly, we need to call them out, hold them accountable and try to help them improve. However, I write today as someone who is fundamentally a supporter of Israel as a Jewish state and deplores the terrorist atrocities committed by Hamas.

My personal connections to Israel run deep, from family and friends who live there to the many times I was able to study, volunteer and visit in Israel. It is vitally important to me, my family and the Jewish people that Israel exists as a Jewish state. I say this as someone who was raised by a survivor of the Holocaust (my beloved grandmother Sarra, of blessed memory) and someone who left the Soviet Union as a refugee due to systemic antisemitism.

The country of my birth (Ukraine) and the country of my heart (Israel) are both at war.

Seek peace and pursue it. Psalms 34:15
